Tertius is a very professional photographer. He makes very good use of natural light and he only needs a split second to take a great picture. This was very pleasant for us, with slight fear of camera.*

We always thought: you have two types of photo reportage: spontaneous and authentic or glamorous but posed. We only discovered that a photographer can unite all these -seemingly contradictory- aspects in one photo when we saw Tertius’ fantastic photos of our wedding. They are cinematic, tell a story and are beautiful in composition but at the same time have the dynamism and personal touch of photos your friends take of you. Besides the very romantic photos of us as a bride and groom, we love the photos of larger groups of friends and family. Although they are not classic portraits with everyone looking obediently into the camera, each person comes into their own in beautiful, spontaneous compositions.*

‘Don’t hesitate, just do it’ is our advice to prospective brides and grooms considering Reflexx for the photo shoot. As real control freaks (especially the bride), we looked at just about every site and portfolio of wedding photographers in the Netherlands online more than a year in advance. Because the photos are one of the few tangible memories that remain and we wanted the best photographer… Reflexx immediately stood out for us; natural, spontaneous, beautiful black-and-white photography and very stylish. The mini-albums for our parents were a hit at Christmas and the slide-show as an original thank-you to our guests also earned many compliments. Choosing a photographer for our wedding day…pff that was going to be a difficult task. Neither of us really likes posing for photos AND we got married in Italy. So the photographer really had to fit in with the small company we would be travelling to Italy with. After seeing beautiful photos of Tertius in a magazine, we contacted him for an appointment. After he said at the appointment: ‘I always like to make an introductory appointment, because if there is no click then it won’t work’, we immediately agreed, this had to be our photographer! During the days in Italy, Tertius was almost invisible, but present at exactly the right moments to capture all the beautiful moments. Together with him we went out in the morning to take photos in the surroundings of Florence and this was definitely a special and very relaxed moment. And the result turned out beautifully! When I asked my wife to marry me I was reassured with one thing; she wanted the day captured in style and luckily I personally knew the man for the job. We had super high criteria and needed some one who is professionally more than capable, friendly and invisible. When we got married, my husband said, you can pick the photographer. I know how critical you are with photos. He did have one condition: it had to be someone he felt comfortable with, as he doesn’t like having his picture taken. I did a lot of research, behind the computer and via trade fairs and magazines. We were looking for a photographer who knows how to capture moments, not standard “posed” photos. Photos in which you can feel the emotion. We made appointments with five photographers. Tertius from Reflexx was our fourth appointment, and it clicked immediately. On the way back in the car I knew, I didn’t even need to meet number five. This is the man we must have! Tertius joined us for three days in beautiful Italy where we got married. Because we were in an intimate company, he could not fully blend into the background. He managed to capture the first look in my husband’s eyes when I emerged 50 metres away from him in my wedding dress. On 23 June 2011, we, Martijn and Nicole got married at the beach in Hoek van Holland. We wanted a wedding in a relaxed atmosphere, hence the choice of beach club Zwoel in Hoek van Holland.
